8 ANTONIA DEL BALZO (1441-1538), married in 1479 Gianfrancesco Gonzaga di Rodigo (1443-96)

Obv. Bust to right. Around, DIVA ANTONIA BA[V]TIA DE GONZ . MAR .
Rev. Hope, holding broken anchor and tattered sail, stands on prow of broken-masted vessel drawn by two Pegasi over which flies a putto. Engraved on side of vessel, MAI PIV; around, SVPEREST M SPES
Bronze, old aftercast, 39 mm. Hole at top

Mai piĆ¹, the motto of Antonia and her husband, is found also on the bronze vase in the Modena Museum attributed to Antico.
