The torso of this statuette, with its slender proportions and detailed musculature, recalls sculptures inspired by the famed Greek sculptor Lysippos, who was active in the fourth century BCE Though a precise attribution is difficult, the torsion of the body, along with placement of the figure’s left hand on his hip, compares favorably to statues of satyrs, or possible the youth Narcissus.
