Object Description

(A last toast! Gentlemen, let’s not go back on board without a final toast in honor of the two things which, most of all, bring charm to our lives….let’s drink to the ladies and cold veal!), Plate 18 from the series of 20 lithographs entitled
“Les Canotiers Parisiens (The Parisian oarsmen), published in “Le Charivari” between April and September 1843.

Delteil 1040 I/IV, before text. A very rare caption proof printed on wove, annotated in ink by the captionist written on a very thin strip of paper which has been affixed to the lower part of the
sheet below the image. (There is also an annotation of an alternated caption). A superb impression. With folds and minor flaws.
