Bartolommeo Melioli

Bartolommeo Melioli

(Mantua, 1448 - 1514)

A goldsmith, coin engraver and medalist, Melioli spent his whole life at Mantua. His earliest dated medal is of 1474, and in 1492 he became master of the mint. Melioli's medals show the influence of Cristoforo di Geremia. See Forrer 4, pp. 14-17; Corpus, pp. 47-50; Kress, pp. 17-18. --- from The Molinari Collection, Andrea S. Norris and Ingrid Weber, Published by Bowdoin College, 1976
