Edward Fisher
NOTE ABOUT THE ARTIST: Joshua Reynolds, the first president of the Royal Academy in London, was the era’s foremost portrait painter, a spirited collector, as well as an influential writer whose Discourses on Art are among the most important works of art criticism. The Irish mezzotint engraver Edward Fisher worked in London since 1757. Twenty-eight of his sixty-six portrait prints are based on Reynolds’s painting.
