This statuette, possibly of Hermes, is likely a Roman version of a Greek original of the fourth century BCE The statuette’s body curves slightly to the left at the hips and slightly to the right at the shoulders, creating an S-shape with the body. A swath of drapery hangs over the figure’s left shoulder and across his back. The pose is similar to the Hermes and the Infant Dionysus by the famous Greek sculptor Praxiteles.
