Object Description

Per David P. Becker (January 2010):
Issued by the artist as series of emblems without text; an edition with text (explanatory verses in Latin and French) was published in Paris in 1646. The three figures at the bottom of the title page are St. Bruno, St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Bernard of Clairvaux. The emblems relate to the benefits of a monastic life.
