Tchelitchew was a prominent Surrealist painter and artist whose works in the 1940s were celebrated alongside Picasso and Dali. Often featuring mystical depictions of the human body, his work contains reference to metaphysics and religion. As shown in this drawing, he explored interior landscapes, and represented the human body with elements of its interior anatomy made visible.
