Object Description

417 THE CONVERSION OF SAINT PAUL
Paul is shown in form-fitting armor and cape, fallen onto rocky ground from his charger, seen behind him. In his right hand he holds a sword; his left arm is raised toward the figure of Christ, appearing in a radiant cloud nimbus with outstretched arms. To the right, a soldier seen from the rear holds both hands over his head. Behind him, seven mounted soldiers flee to the left; two look back over their shoulders, a third holds a shield over his head, and a fourth grips a lance with both hands. Two riders gallop to the right.

Bronze, oval, traces of gilt, 152 x 199 mm. Hole at top.
