Object Description

403 MOSES AND THE BRAZEN SERPENT
In the middle stands the cross with the serpent. To the right, Moses gestures toward it with both arms while looking at a figure lying on the ground. To the left, a woman sits under a tree with right arm outstretched looking at the prophet; behind her another woman looks at the serpent. On the far right, a man's figure seen from the rear. Ridged frame.

Bronze, gilt, aftercast(?), oval, 106 x 90 mm. Four holes in frame.

There exists a pendant to this plaquette depicting the Original Sin. A set in lead is in Nuremberg, the Germanische Nationalmuseum. In style they appear to be Netherlandish work done under Italian influence.

Bibl.: Weber, no. 1026, 2.
