Object Description

Two registers divided by a a laurel scroll, above a depiction of a crowd gathering before the Plaza de la Victoria to protest, overthrow, and install a new government- the Primera Junta, below, the signing of the Argentinian Declaration of Independence before an applauding crowd, ornate border decorations at the edge

This medal was issued to commemorate the completion of restoring and redecorating the historic Casa de Tucuman, the building used by the Primera Junta (installed May 25, 1810) and the site of the signing of the Argentinian Declaration of Independence in July 9, 1816.
