Obv. Bust to left. Around, HENR . FOX . VALETTAE . DVX . CANDALLAE . PAR . FR .
Rev. Stemma, draped and crowned, surmounted by eagle
Bronze, 42 mm.

A medal of Henri de Foix by Cormano is noted in Forrer (3, p. 208) and Kress (p. 92). The portrait and style of lettering of our medal are very close to Cormano's illustrated in Rondot. Henri was in the service of the Venetian army from 1624-33 and commander of the Italian army in 1638- 39 (he died at the siege of Casal). The medal could have been cast during either of these periods.

Bibl.: Rondot, p. 408, pl. 29, 1 (with similar obverse signed I. I. Koremano and different reverse).
