Object Description

Series: THE PASSION OF CHRIST
397 CHRIST ON GETHSEMANE
Christ in prayer before altar-like stone, covered with a cloth on which are an open book and a chalice. Around, boulders and trees. Above, an angel holding a cross. In the foreground, a sleeping apostle; two others on the left, behind a boulder.

Bronze, gilt, 89 x 64 mm. Lower left corner broken off; hole at top.

Four scenes are known from this series. The Lamentation (cf. no. 380) included by Frederiks (no. 117d) probably does not belong to the group.
Another specimen: (bronze) Cologne, Kunstgewerbemuseum.
