Object Description

386 STANDING ELDER
Facing right, a bearded old man with close-fitting cap and cloak trimmed with fur leans on a staff.

Bronze, dark patina, cut-out silhouette, height 202 mm. Left foot and portion of base line broken off; eight holes.

This figure is one of numerous related examples. It is not yet clear, however, exactly what personage is intended; perhaps an apostle or more likely a shepherd from an adoration scene is depicted.
