Object Description

408 BOAR ATTACKED BY DOGS
Running to the right, a wild boar is caught by three dogs; one attacks from the front, another behind, and the third atop the boar. Trees at each side.

Bronze, dark patina, oval, 51 x 70 mm.

The ornamental treatment of the animals and trees is particularly noteworthy. From this treatment as well as the modeling of the figures the influence of an antique intaglio can be inferred, making dating and classification more difficult.
