Object Description

420 A SATYR UNVEILING A SLEEPING BACCHANTE
At the right, on a stylized flowery hillock, lies a sleeping bacchante, a veil half-covering her body. To the right sits a goat-footed satyr crowned with vine leaves; he lifts one end of the veil. At his feet are bunches of grapes, a bowl and an overturned vessel; at the feet of the bacchante, grapes and a tambourine.

Bronze, 41 x 77 mm.

The relief shows Italian influence, but is possibly a French work.
