This eerie interior by Roger Parry, together with strange street scenes and nearly abstract photograms, served as illustrations of Léon-Paul Fargue’s book Banalité [also in BCMA’s collection, 1988.40]. Parry was influenced by his close collaboration with Maurice Tabard, another surrealist photographer. Parry went on to become a book designer for the French publisher Gallimard.
