NOTE THIS BIOGRAPHY DOES NOT MATCH THE LISTED ARTIST [Andrieu was born in Bordeaux, where he studied at the academy and under Andre Lavau. In 1786 he went to Paris where he made such progress in the shop of Gatteaux that in 1789 he engraved the medal of the Storming of the Bastille. He executed many medals during the Revolution, Empire, and Restoration, engraving the portraits used for the obverse of medals of Napoleon and Louis XVIII. See A.
