Alessandro Astesano

17th century Italian artist
(1604 - )

From Turin, the son of Orazio Astesano. In 1622 Alessandro was appointed to replace Gaspare Mola as engraver at the papal mint. He took office in 1623 and prepared gold and silver medals for distribution at the Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday. After May there is no official notice of him again except for payments of 1632 and 1633; regular payments are again to Mola.
