Giuseppe Girometti

(1780 - 1851)

Gem engraver, medalist, and sculptor, student of the sculptor Pacetti at the Accademia di San Luca. After winning prizes for four statues for the Duomo of Foligno, he turned to die engraving and from 1822 was engraver at the papal mint under Popes Pius VII, Leo XIII, Pius VIII and Gregory XVI. Girometti also worked for the Grand Duke of Tuscany and the Kings of Sardinia and England.
