Marc Bechot
Marc Bechot
16th century French artist
(1520 - 1557)
Medalist under Henry II, probably trained by Matteo dal Nassaro of Verona. Henry II appointed Bechot the first engraver general of the mints in 1547. Mazerolle says that in Bechot's medals the fine style of the French Renaissance begins to be combined with the broader Italian manner.
