Francesco Pieri
Francesco Pieri
(Prato, ca. 1698 - 1793)
A student and long-time associate of Giovacchino Fortini, Pieri was born in Prato. He specialized in wax sculpture, most of which is lost. Gian Gastone de' Medici promised Pieri Fortini's position as head of the grandducal tapestry works, but when Gian Gastone died, Pieri lost all and moved to the Neapolitan court. Pieri's five signed medals are dated 1718-26.
