Thomas Bernard

(1650 - 1713)

Medalist for Louis XIV, first mentioned in his service in 1679. After 1685 Bernard worked almost exclusively for the Paris mint on the Histoire Metallique of the king. In 1690 he was received into the academy for a medallic portrait of the painter Mignard. He executed also a medallic series of the kings of France and made medals for the courts of England and Bavaria.
