Jean Roettiers (Jan Roettiers)
Jean Roettiers
(1631 - 1703)
A member of a large family of Flemish medalists, Roettiers was trained by his father Philip Roettiers. He worked as an assistant at the Antwerp mint until 1661, when he moved to London. From 1670-98 he was chief engraver at the royal mint; from 1669 his family was given a monopoly of engraving and striking coins for Charles II
