Joseph Collyer (the Younger)

INFORMATION ON THE ARTIST: Collyer entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1771 where he received training in engraving. In 1786 Collyer became official portrait engraver to Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III, and an elected member of the Royal Academy. Between 1770 and 1822 he exhibited at the Academy regularly, since 1789 almost every year. Most of prints are based on the work of contemporary painters, such as this work after Henry Moses. He was also an accomplished portraitist and book illustrator.
