(Chimbote, Peru, 1968 – )

Mayu Mohanna (born 1968, Chimbote, Peru) is a Peruvian photojournalist and curator. She received her degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Lima and later completed a Master's degree in photography and video at the School of the Visual Arts in New York City in 2004. Mohanna began her career as a professional photojournalist in 1990, working for Peruvian newspapers and magazines such as Sí, Cuanto, El Mundo, and El Comercio. She also served as the graphic editor for the books El Perú Emergente and Perú Tercer Milenio. She attended the World Press Photo program for Latin America in 2000 and the Joop Swart Masterclass. Awards include first prize in Peru's Eugenio Courret photojournalism contest (2000) and a Ford Foundation Fellowship (2001). Since 2001, Mohanna has worked primarily as a curator. Her exhibitions, which often focus on documenting and exposing Peruvian history, include Baldomero Alejos, Ayacucho, 1925–1975; Yuyanapaq: Para Recordar, 1980–2000; Mírante: imágenes del 2000–2005; Sujeto de Derecho: Relatos de inclusión social con la participación de 15 fotoperiodistas del dirio EL Comerci de Perú, 1000 PUCP, Para recordar Yuyanapaq: 15 años despues, and Gonzalo de Reparaz: Paisaje y turismo en el Perú, 1950–1960.
