Educated consecutively at the Escuela de Nobles Artes in Seville, Spain and the Real Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. Received the Gold medal award at the first Spanish Exposicion Nacional in 1856 for his painting titled "Christopher Columbus in the Convent of La Rabida."
