Object Description

Per the artist as noted on her 9/23/2013 invoice:
Weathering is a transposition cipher based on the Greek use of the scytale.

The piece consists of a print and a wooden rolling pin. The print is rolled up and concealed in the rolling pin.

Encrypted/unfurled the print reads as a somewhat labored poem containing such weathered presentiments as anagrams of weathering allowed (eg., Wrath Genie, Water Hinge and Ere Thawing). Wrapped properly snug around the rolling
pin you can read the word weathering over and over. Seen through the layers of the paper, weathering seems to fade in and out.
