Johann Karl Hedlinger’s medal of Tsarina Anna Ivanovna (1693–1740), niece of Peter the Great, commemorates the signing of a peace treaty with the Ottoman Empire in 1739. Anna, daughter of Ivan IV and niece of Peter the Great, briefly ruled the Russian Empire from 1730 until 1740. Despite her brief tenure, Anna led the Russian Empire to victory in two wars, the War of Polish Succession (1733–1735) and the Russo-Turkish War (1736–1739).
