Rev. Louis XIII kneels before the Pieta on the altar of Notre Dame and offers up his crown. Around, in border, SE ET REGNUM DEO SUB B . MARIAE TUTELA CONSECRAVIT; at base of altar steps, T . BERNARD . F . ; in exergue, ARAM VOVIT | M . DC. XXXVIII .

From the first Royal Series of the Histoire Metallique du roi Louis XIV. On 15 August 1638, Louis put himself, his crown, and France under the special protection of the Virgin.
